How a Fortune 500 telecom manufacturer recovered more than 90% of targeted devices across 22 countries

After an acquisition, a Fortune 500 telecom manufacturer needed a consistent way to recover thousands of devices across countries, employee locations, and IT asset disposition partners. Evercycle connected the participants and return methods in one coordinated program.

Results at a glance

  • More than 90% of targeted devices recovered
  • 80% reduction in coordination labor
  • Program launched in under two weeks

The operational challenge

The acquisition created an immediate equipment transition: employees needed replacement devices, while their existing equipment had to be recovered and routed for processing.

The recovery spanned remote homes and satellite offices across 22 countries. Devices needed to reach one of 14 IT asset disposition (ITAD) partners according to geographic assignments.

A single return method would not work everywhere. Some employees needed a return kit, others required an onsite collection, and others could print a label and use their own packaging.

The manufacturer needed to accommodate those differences while maintaining consistent oversight, device traceability, and reporting.

What Evercycle changed

Evercycle gave the manufacturer one place to initiate, monitor, and report on the recovery program.

Configured workflows connected employee locations with assigned ITAD partners and the appropriate return method. Employees could receive pre-labeled kits, participate in white-glove collections, or complete employee-initiated returns.

Timestamped activity and chain-of-custody records connected the steps. Administrators could view recovery progress, return rates, communications, and processing activity through a consolidated dashboard.

The ITAD partners continued to perform their assigned physical services, while Evercycle coordinated the work and brought the program data together.

The business results

The program launched in under two weeks and recovered more than 90% of the targeted devices.

Automation reduced the labor associated with manual tracking and coordination by 80%. Instead of assembling updates across separate partners and processes, the manufacturer gained a standardized view of recovery activity across the program.

The result extended beyond the acquisition project: the manufacturer established a repeatable operating model for future device transitions, combining local execution with centralized visibility.
